World Book Day
World Book Day 2022
As part of World Book Day 2022, children in all classes from Reception right through to year 6 were tasked with the job of creating a six-word story. We took original inspiration from the book 'Short' by Kevin Crossley-Holland, before class teachers then selected their own text for children to base their stories on. The results can be seen below, and we now have a display dedicated to some of the work we produced as part of World Book Day. There are some excellent stories in there!

World Book Day 2021
World Book Day celebrations were a little different this year with the Covid-19 Pandemic and lockdown. Nonetheless, our spirits were not to be dampened and we still ensured everyone, whether at home or in school, was involved! This year, we chose 'The Masked Reader' as our theme, whereby staff were recorded reading extracts of their favourite books whilst in disguise, and in turn children had to guess who they thought were behind each disguise. Some of the recordings and indeed the reveals can be seen in the videos below.
We also incorporated a whole host of activities including #WorldBookDayWindow whereby children had to recreate and display their favourite book cover in their window. As you can see below, some children & staff also recreated these on t-shirts! (Again, these photos can be seen below.) Elsewhere, classes were given the task of using wordless books as a writing stimulus, and the some of the outcomes of this can be found on the school's Twitter page. It was a great day had by all, regardless of whether you were at home or in school!
