HOLDEN CLOUGH PTA
Having Fun * Raising Funds * Making Friends
What is a PTA?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. It is a group of volunteers who organise fun activities and events for the school to raise money. Although the committee is made up of Parents/Carers and Teachers/School Staff, everyone is welcome, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and Friends are also invited to get involved.
Why does it need to raise money?
The local authority fund our school. However, this money only covers the basics of a child's education. In order to provide the fun extras that enhance the children's time at school, more money is needed. the PTA can be a valuable source of additional funds. In the past, the PTA has paid for the Reception class play area, laptops and the home economic kitchen area.
Is it a big Commitment?
Holden Clough PTA has been running since March 2015. There is a small committee who will meet each term to plan events. They may meet more regularly as an event approaches. However, you do not need to be a member of the committee to be involved. Perhaps you don't want to be involved in the planning but are happy to help on the day - event day volunteers are essential and much appreciated. Perhaps you would like to be involved in one event but not another depending on your interests and expertise. Maybe you can help in the background by advertising an event or providing cheaper resources. Perhaps you just want to attend the events - this is a great way to support your school. There are endless ways in which you can make a difference whilst having fun and making new friends.
I'm interested - what do I do next?
